From Surviving Tax Chaos to Redefining Global Prosperity

My Journey

From Chaos to Clarity

I was born in southern India into a middle-class family of artists in the fields of drawing and painting. When my father lost his vision at twelve, I stepped in to run his art academy for three years — my first lesson in responsibility and entrepreneurship. Those years taught me that life doesn’t owe us certainty; it invites us to evolve... After earning an all-India rank in Chartered Accountancy and working with leading institutions — Bharat Petroleum, Sterlite Industries, Kotak Mahindra, and Citibank — I realized that employment, while secure, wasn’t liberating. I left corporate life at its peak to build something of my own: DVS Advisory Group, founded in 2007. From that one-room office, DVS has evolved from a specialist in international tax strategy into a multi-country, multi-service platform operating across the U.S, Singapore, India and Dubai, serving clients in over 40 jurisdictions and with $400+ million in revenues. Surviving three near bankruptcies, living in seven countries, and travelling across thirty countries, I discovered that every fall reveals a deeper pattern of purpose.

The Entrepreneurial Odyssey

When I launched DVS, it wasn’t to build a firm — it was to build a vehicle for freedom. From a single room in Chennai, we journeyed across Mauritius, Dubai, Singapore, London India, and the United States — exploring, building and often losing, but always evolving. We faced the realities of global expansion firsthand — from frozen bank accounts to delayed payments and regulatory complexities — experiences that became the foundation of our wisdom...

Our philosophy of serving clients rests on a simple three-part framework.

This framework was not designed in a boardroom; it was forged through real struggles — through the same challenges our clients face today. That is why our advice doesn’t just come from books or models — it comes from experience, from scars turned into systems. Ultimately, DVS is not just about building structures; it’s about enabling freedom — for enterprises, for capital, and for people.

Believer in Thought Capitalism

Through teaching over 10,000 professionals and entrepreneurs and writing more than 15 books, I’ve realized that true capital is not only financial — it’s cognitive. It’s the knowledge and creativity we harness that truly drives success. As a teacher, advisor, and entrepreneur, my role has never been to give answers, but to enable thinking. I don’t teach; I help derive answers — because there is no single right one. Every conclusion is a function of perspective, timing, and circumstance. There is no absolute right or wrong — only alignment or misalignment. My journey as a member of YPO and EO globally, and as a World Economic Forum New Champion deepened this belief. Exposure to diverse thinkers, leaders, and cultures reaffirmed that ideas gain value only when shared, challenged, and scaled. To me, ideas are not intellectual possessions; they are productive capital when multiplied through dissemination. This became the heart of my work — what I define as Thought Capitalism:

The Turning Point

The deepest shift came while studying the history of empires. The concept of Jizya — a tax waived if a non-believer of the faith joined the military — revealed to me that tax is a tool for behavioral alignment. That moment reframed my life’s work: to enable governments and entrepreneurs to align, not contradict. From that point, tax became more than policy — it became philosophy. I realized
